One of Steve Jobs latter projects was truly the 'apple' of his eye but sadly, he did not live to see it come to fruition. The announcement was made sometime in June this year and it was scheduled to be completed and move-in ready, in 2015.

I'm talking about the iSpaceship - the proposed Apple new Headquarters campus to be built somewhere in Cupertino, CA. A curved-all-the-way-around building, this architectural masterpiece has a ring-like circular shape and is planned to be large enough to house 12,000(!) people.

In his own words, “It’s a pretty amazing building…it’s a little like a spaceship landed.”. "The best office building in the world."

Here are some of the stats

  • 4 stories high
  • 12,000 employees
  • Underground parking and ground parking
  • A self-sufficient 'green' energy centre (only relying on the grid as a backup)
  • Fitness centre
  • Cafe to seat 3,000 at any one time
  • An auditorium
  • R & D facilities, amongst other things.

A big leap from the proverbial garage, if you ask me. After all, isn't that where all the big technology startup ideas originate?

  1. I hadn't hard of this--it sounds like n amazing place to work! And yes, it does seem like these companies all start out in the garage!!

  2. That's what I said to myself last night. Get the car out of the garage and start using the garage for the creative stuff!
